1. What types of cases are heard by the Farragut Municipal Court?

The Farragut Municipal Court has jurisdiction within the Town of Farragut over cases involving violations of Town ordinances and adopted codes. Since late 2009, the Farragut Municipal Court also has jurisdiction over automated traffic enforcement cases (Red Light Cameras). 2. How do I contact the Farragut Municipal Court?

The Farragut Municipal Court can be contacted by calling the Farragut Town Hall at 865-966-7057 or by contacting the Court Clerk at 865-218-3363 or jhatmaker@townoffarragut.org. Court Staff cannot discuss the merits of a case or provide legal advice. Court Staff can assist with rescheduling a case in the event of a conflict or emergency. Failure to appear before the court on the day and time cited may result in an automatic default judgment. 3. How much are the court costs and fines?

If found liable, the Judge may assess court costs and fines. Payment for court costs and fines are to be paid within ten (10) days of the judgment. 

Court costs are set at $115.00. Court costs for ordinance violations and automated traffic enforcement (red light camera) violations should be paid to the Town of Farragut. Payments can be made in person or by mail at the Farragut Town Hall located at 11408 Municipal Center Drive, Farragut, TN 37934. Make checks or money orders payable to "Town of Farragut." Cash payments cannot be accepted by mail, but can be accepted in person at the Farragut Town Hall.

Fines for ordinance violations may be up to $50/day/violation for every day that the violation(s) exist. Fines for ordinance violations are to be paid to the Town of Farragut. Payments can be made in person or by mail at the Farragut Town Hall located at 11408 Municipal Center Drive, Farragut, TN 37934. Make checks or money orders payable to "Town of Farragut." Cash payments cannot be accepted by mail, but can be accepted in person at the Farragut Town Hall.

Automated traffic enforcement (red light camera) violations have a civil penalty of $50 per violation. The civil penalty for automated traffic enforcement violations can be paid online at www.photonotice.com or in person or by mail at 900 E Hill Ave Suite 255, Knoxville, TN 37915; payments for automated traffic enforcement violations cannot be made at the Farragut Town Hall. Make checks or money orders payable to "Farragut Traffic Enforcement Program." Cash payments cannot be accepted by mail, but an be accepted in person at 900 E Hill Ave Suite 255. 

4. Do I need an attorney if I am cited to municipal court?

Anyone cited to appear before the Municipal Court may present his/her own case before the judge unless the defendant is a corporation or limited liability company. This includes the right to present witnesses, documents, and other relevant evidence. The retention or use of any attorney is up to the discretion of the cited party. If the named defendant is a corporation or limited liability company, that legal entity must be represented by an attorney if it is to appear before the court.
