Art classes for adults and kids with disabilities at the Farragut Community Center

Our Place Art, a nonprofit with the mission of enriching the lives of individuals with disabilities through the arts, is offering free classes at the Farragut Community Center this summer. Our Place Art programs assist and support youth and adults as they find support and recognition in a community that values the unique perspectives and strengths of individuals with disabilities.

Register today; classes have limited attendance. Pre-registration is required; email info@ourplaceart.com.

Creativity and Art Expression

Two dates: Wednesday, July 14, or Thursday, Sept. 9, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the community center large classroom. Join us for an art expression class where participants create vibrant paintings. All materials provided by the instructor. 

Social Skills & Board Games

Thursday, July 15, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the community center large classroom. Join Our Place Art for a summer-themed social skills activity to make new friends! Participants will build friendships and social skills through playing social board games. Participants have an opportunity to create their own personalized board game. All materials are provided. 

Rainbow Science

Wednesday, July 21, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the community center large classroom. Join Our Place Art for two rainbow-themed science experiments including rainbow paper color science and traveling colors. All materials are provided by the instructor. 

Garden Kits

Wednesday, July 21, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the community center large classroom. Join Our Place Art for a fun-filled activity to explore nature, science and art! Participants will decorate their own terracotta pots and pick flower or vegetable seeds to grow at home. All materials are provided by the instructor. 

Goal Setting

Thursday, Aug. 12, 4-5:30 p.m. in the community center large classroom. Join Our Place Art for a fun-filled goal-setting activity. Participants will create vision boards for the new school year. Bring a picture of yourself to add to your collage vision board; all other materials are provided by the instructor. 

Health, Nutrition and Gardening Part 1

Thursday, Aug. 26, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the community center large classroom. Join Our Place Art for a fun activity to start learning about health, nutrition and gardening. In Part 1, participants will learn about healthy eating and start an at-home vegetable garden. All materials are provided by the instructor. 

Health, Nutrition and Gardening Part 2

Thursday, Sept. 2, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the community center large classroom. Join Our Place Art for a fun activity to start learning about health, nutrition and gardening. Participants will make a garden stepping stone, and continue to learn about healthy eating and gardening in Part 2. All materials are provided by the instructor. 

Social/Life Skills

Thursday, September 23, 4-5:30 p.m. in the community center large classroom. Join Our Place Art for a fun-filled social awareness/life-skills activity. Participants will make greeting cards to share with others. All materials provided by the instructor. 

Friendship and Social Skills

Thursday, Sept. 30, 10 a.m.-12 p.m. in the community center large classroom. Join us for a social skills activity to build friendship and social skills through playing friendship bingo, a scavenger hunt and other teambuilding activities. All materials provided by the instructor.
