Long-time Farragut resident Karen Tindal has been hired as the Town’s new tourism coordinator, and Lauren Cox has been promoted from special event and program coordinator to parks and athletics coordinator.
“It’s great to have our new tourism coordinator in place, and we’re excited that Karen will be using her experience and energy to promote Farragut. Parks and Athletics Coordinator Lauren Cox has been a valuable member of our team for many years now and I know she will do an excellent job in her new role with the Town,” says Town Administrator David Smoak.
The Board of Mayor and Aldermen voted to fund the part-time tourism coordinator position in September 2017 as part of a comprehensive program to market the Town. Tindal’s experience includes serving as race director for the Farragut 13.1, 5k, and Kids’ Fun Run and executive director of Girls on the Run of Greater Knoxville. She volunteered with Farragut schools when her three grown children attended, and has taught fitness classes at the YMCA for 30 years.
She’s looking forward to using her experience and connections to market Farragut.
“I’ve always wanted to work for the Town, and I’m excited to see the possibilities of how we can bring visitors to Farragut,” she says. “It’s a unique little place.”
Cox steps into the role of parks and athletics coordinator following the departure of Alden Rosner, who recently moved to Florida. She is a certified parks and rec professional and a certified playground safety inspector.
After over six years of coordinating Town of Farragut events, Cox has turned her attention to park safety and coordinating field use.
“It’s my goal to be a parks director someday. This is the next step,” she says.
Incorporated in 1980, the Town of Farragut has top schools, safe neighborhoods and high development standards, making it one of the best places to live in the Southeast.
