Youth Representatives Sought for Farragut Committees

The Town of Farragut is always looking for a fresh perspective. If you’re a civic-minded high school junior or senior who lives in the Farragut area, we want you to share your ideas by participating in a Town committee!

The Board of Mayor and Aldermen recognizes that young citizens play a vital role in the Town. That’s why several Farragut committees have a slot for a youth representative. The following committees currently have an opening for a youth member: Arts Council, Museum Committee, Farragut/Knox County Schools Education Relations Committee, and Visual Resources Review Board.

Openings on these committees are expected in January 2018: Economic Development Advisory Committee, Parks and Athletics Council, Planning Commission and Stormwater Advisory Committee.

To learn more about each committee and apply, visit townoffarragut.org/youth. A letter of recommendation from a principal, teacher or guidance counselor is required. Private and home-schooled students are welcome to apply.

Candidates must have reliable transportation to and from the meetings and will be expected to attend all scheduled meetings. Youth representatives will take part in discussions and interact with the fellow committee members, but do not have a formal vote due to legal constraints. Selected candidates typically serve for one academic year, but some opt to serve longer.
