Town Welcomes Three New Staff Members

FARRAGUT, TN – It’s said that good things come in threes, so the Town of Farragut is starting the new year right with three new hires.

Joe LaCroix is the town’s first information technology manager. He learned about Farragut while researching Strategic IT Plans for the Fort Myers Beach Fire Control District, his previous employer. He adapted sections of Farragut’s plan for fire department use.

He applied for the position in order to be closer to extended family and the mountains, where he enjoys riding his motorcycle. His wife, Julie, and children, William and Sarah, are in the process of relocating to Farragut.

Parks and Leisure Services Director Sue Stuhl is thrilled that the town finally has a dedicated IT manager, and LaCroix is an especially good fit because his new job description closely mirrors that of his previous position, she says.

Wendy Smith is the town’s new public relations and media coordinator. She was previously a reporter for the Shopper News.

Covering Farragut government was a good primer for her new position, she says. Being a regular attendee of Board of Mayor and Aldermen and Municipal Planning Commission meetings gave her a good overview of town operations.

She is responsible for the town’s social media and various publications, as well as working with media outlets.

Beth Barrows is the new administrative assistant in the town’s Parks and Leisure Services Department. She has served as a part-time parks assistant since moving to the area from South Carolina in 2014.

Her responsibilities include handling field use requests, managing the town’s Adopt a Mile and Adopt A Greenway programs and assisting with special events.

She’s excited about the opportunity to use her degree in Parks, Recreation, Leisure and Fitness from Southern Wesleyan University, where she played softball.

“I enjoy working with people, especially in a field that I have a passion for.”
