Background: 

The Town purchased the former Faith Lutheran Church, located at 239 Jamestowne Blvd., as the Farragut Community Center (top level) and the Knox County Senior Center (bottom level).

Project Description: 

The Town will operate and fund the community center and Knox County will operate and fund the senior center. Both entities will share use of the gymnasium, associated restrooms and commercial kitchen. The Town purchased the building for $2 million and Knox County will spend $2 million on renovations to the entire building in lieu of a 20-year lease. The Town and County will share in the annual utility and maintenance costs not including basic janitorial, operating and staffing costs which will be funded through each entity for their half of the building. 

Renovations to both levels will adhere to current safety and ADA standards. Renovations to the upper level will result in three classrooms of various sizes, a rental/special event hall and reception area, gym with stage (middle school size), offices and storage. All the community center public spaces will be available for rent.
